A word that I have come to realize is something I need in my life. Growing up, I always felt that I was part of some sort of a community, whether that was something at school or cheerleading. I always had that built in group of friends that I could lean on to ask questions to, offer and gain support and have a group of people that just….have your back.
When I entered this hockey world,
it hit me like a ton of bricks. I didn’t have ANY friends that were dating professional athletes and had no one to ask questions to when times got tough. As much as I loved all of my friends, I felt like no one could relate to what I was going through. It wasn’t until I was at a game with another fellow hockey girlfriend back in 2014, that she offered to add me into an exclusive Facebook community for hockey wives and girlfriends. Even though I didn’t utilize the group until our relationship progressed, it was nice to see that I wasn’t the only person living this crazy lifestyle!
Fast forward to 2020
after years of sitting on the idea for a podcast, I decided that I am going to go for it. For a bit, I felt imposter syndrome creep in. I thought to myself, am I enough to do something like this? But looking back over the past 10 years, I can confidently say I have been through enough in this world to be able to host a podcast for our group. With that being said, I couldn’t do it alone. I needed support from my people. I started growing this community because this community is what I needed for myself. I know what it has been like to be on a team and feel on the outside. I know what it feels like to move to a new place and have to start over. I thought to myself, if I can even help one person feel less alone, I’m doing something right.
I want to expand
After almost a year of podcasting and learning the ins and outs, while additionally connecting with thousands of women all over the globe, I want to expand. I want to grow this community into something more. I hope you enjoy this website where you can find more support through what you’re going through, cute merch, retreats, blogs from other hockey girls and virtual meet ups.

This podcast has given me so much life. As a fellow hockey wife living overseas, I can’t tell you how much comfort and support these weekly episodes have given me. All the guests are so relatable and I love listening to all of their hockey experiences, travel adventures, small businesses they have started and even their mental struggles they have while living this uncertain lifestyle. The podcasts and Devyn make you feel like you are a part of a supportive community. It has truly been a gift during this lonely pandemic. I recommend this podcast to anyone who is in need of a weekly pick me up with girl time.
